And the Waiting Begins…

advent spiral

I actually went out on Black Friday this year. Not late Thursday, not early Friday, but at some time during the day I set out to buy a winter coat. And to take the suspense off, I found one. And yes, it was a great deal.

When my husband and I were walking through the mall though, it dawned on me that now, with Thanksgiving behind us, everybody jumped right into the Christmas preparation frenzy.

We clean; we bake; we decorate; we celebrate early; we organize; we freak out a little; and we buy, buy, buy.

And with all this prep, we forget to prepare our minds, souls, and hearts.

Of course, we stress with our kids constantly that Christmas is not all about presents. We talk all the time to not stress about those worldly things. Yet here we are, browsing sales relentlessly; getting nervous because we don’t know what to get the cousin, friend, or spouse; having a nervous breakdown about when to schedule Christmas dinner.

How can it not be all about the stuff and the glitter if that’s all we are consumed by? Even if we chose NOT to buy much, than we persistently talk about THAT.

So here’s an idea. Maybe we just enjoy the fact that there are lights, and cookies, and lots or few presents. AND we put some time aside, EVERY DAY, and read, talk, sing, pray. Feed our souls, minds, and hearts. And open ourselves to the real meaning of Christmas. So that we are truly prepared on the 25th.

P.S. Have you gotten your copy of Charlie and Noel: An Advent Calendar Story

Finally Here

I’m so happy to introduce to you my new book. It is something I wanted to write for a long time and I still can’t believe that it is finally here.
Don’t you just love the cover? I’m so happy I got to work with such a talented artist. Go Meghan!

What is this book about?
It’s about Charlie. Oh, you will love Charlie – I just know it. Charlie, a little boy who wishes he could just skip the whole waiting part before Christmas and jump right into the presents. But Charlie doesn’t realize what he would be missing or just how many magical moments the season has waiting for him.

And, yes, you are right. The donkey on the cover is not by mistake. But you need to read the book to find out more about Noel – yep, that’s the donkey.
Since we are officially opening our very own bookstore today, we have a little treat in stock…
Right now, we are putting the final touches on the audio version of Charlie & Noel. It’s going to be so much fun! We are expecting to release that on November 1st.
Sooo, the first ten customers who buy the book today, will get a free audiobook in their mailbox as soon as it is released. How awesome is this? (Yes, you are eligible for this if you buy the kindle version, too. Just email me at Franziska(at)homenaturally(dot)org after you purchase your kindle story and you’ll get on my top ten list 
